On Thursday, October 20th at 6:45am over 200 people from our city gathered to encourage, honour, and pray for community leaders in Guelph. I was invited to attend this gathering by Andrea Groenewald founder of Five Star Relationships. I was able to meet and network with people from different organizations in our city. It was encouraging to me personally, to be greeted so warmly on behalf of our school and to see the familiar faces of so many other Kingdom workers in our city.
Following a welcome by Cam Guthrie and several musical performances, Lorna Dueck, creator, host and executive producer of Context spoke to us about “laying down tracks in our city”. As a regular commentary writer on faith and public life in Canada’s leading national newspaper, The Globe and Mail, and a frequent media commentator, Lorna enjoys interviewing culture-shaping guests for evidence of God. Lorna’s speech encouraged me in my role of cultivating culture at GCCS. She encouraged us to tell our stories of God’s reconciliation and hope.
We all have circumstances in which we have been placed and God is using us to impact one another. I’m thankful to be part of our school where we are intentionally seeking “to lay down tracks” for our students in Christ-centred learning and serving.
